“Tomorrow, New Yorkers of diverse faiths and backgrounds in all five boroughs will join in celebration of Nowruz, which marks the beginning of the New Year on the Iranian calendar. Celebrated by Iranians, Zoroastrians, Kurds, Afghanis, Azerbaijanis and people throughout Asia and the Middle East, Nowruz falls on the first day of Spring and signifies a time of growth and a renewal of hope. Our city has had its own share of both through the efforts of our vibrant communities, including our neighbors of Persian ancestry, who have brought the magic of Nowruz to New York. I want to extend my best wishes to everyone marking this joyous holiday and wish everyone celebrating a Nowruz Pirooz.”
