In a move that is bound to upset both France's art lovers and gastronomes, the Louvre will soon be hosting the unmistakable golden arches of McDonald's, with the burger chain set to open a branch in the museum next month.
'This is the last straw,' said one of the museum's art historians, predicting 'unpleasant odours'.
The branch will open in the Carrousel du Louvre, the underground approach to the museum.
The outlet would be the 'American' representative in a 'rich and varied' food court, said a spokesman for the Louvre.
The new outlet will be France’s 1,142nd branch, cementing the country’s reputation as the biggest fan of McDonald’s outside America.
